Adding Gift Details
When you claim a gift, you can add giver details to show other coordinators exactly what you’re buying. This is especially helpful for generic wishlist items where there are many possible products to choose from.
What Are Gift Details?
Section titled “What Are Gift Details?”Gift details are the specific product information you add after claiming a gift. They help other givers:
- See exactly which product you’re buying
- Avoid getting something too similar
- Coordinate on color, size, or style variations
For example, if someone’s wishlist says “Cozy blanket,” you might add details showing you’re getting the navy blue Barefoot Dreams throw from Nordstrom.
When to Add Gift Details
Section titled “When to Add Gift Details”Gift details are most useful for:
| Wishlist Item | Why Details Help |
|---|---|
| Generic requests | ”Books by this author” — show which book you’re getting |
| Category items | ”Art supplies” — show the specific kit you chose |
| Flexible gifts | ”Something for the kitchen” — show the exact item |
| Size/color matters | ”Running shoes” — show the color you picked |
Adding Details After Claiming
Section titled “Adding Details After Claiming”When you claim a gift that doesn’t have a specific product URL, Giverr prompts you to add details:
- Claim the gift as usual
- A dialog appears: “How are you fulfilling this gift?”
- Choose Single Item for one product
- Add the product details:
- Product URL — Paste the link to the actual product you’re buying
- Product Name — Auto-filled from the URL (or enter manually)
- Image — Auto-fetched from the URL
- Price — The actual price you’re paying
- Notes — Color, size, or other details
- Click Save
Editing Gift Details
Section titled “Editing Gift Details”Already added details but need to update them?
- Find the gift on the wishlist or in your shopping list
- Look for your claim overlay (shows “Claimed by you”)
- Click the pencil icon to edit
- Update the product URL, name, price, or notes
- Save your changes
What Other Givers See
Section titled “What Other Givers See”When you add gift details, other givers viewing that wishlist see:
- Your product image instead of the generic wishlist image
- Your product name instead of the generic wishlist title
- Your price so they know the value
- A badge indicating product details have been added
This replaces the generic wishlist view with your specific product, helping everyone coordinate.
User Journey: The Book Wishlist
Section titled “User Journey: The Book Wishlist”Let’s say Uncle Bob has “Stephen King novels” on his wishlist, and you want to claim it:
- Open Uncle Bob’s wishlist
- Click Claim Gift on “Stephen King novels”
- Giverr asks how you’re fulfilling this gift
- Choose Single Item
- Paste the Amazon link for “Holly” by Stephen King
- Giverr auto-fills:
- Title: “Holly: A Novel”
- Image: Book cover
- Price: $18.99
- Add a note: “Hardcover edition”
- Save the details
Now Aunt Mary, also shopping for Uncle Bob, sees that you’re getting “Holly” and can choose a different Stephen King book for her gift.
