Access Control

Giverr gives you fine-grained control over who can access your wishlists and what actions they can take.

Most people who access your wishlists are viewers. They can:

  • See all gifts on your wishlist
  • Claim available gifts
  • See other givers’ claims (for coordination)
  • Track their claims in their shopping list

Viewers cannot:

  • See who claimed gifts on their own wishlists
  • Edit your wishlist or gifts
  • Delete gifts
  • Manage your share settings

As the owner of a wishlist, you can:

  • Add, edit, and remove gifts
  • Share the wishlist with groups or via links
  • View basic share link analytics
  • Copy the wishlist for future occasions
  • Archive or delete the wishlist

You cannot see claim information on your own wishlists — this protects the surprise.

If you manage a Family Profile, you act as the owner for their wishlists:

  • Create wishlists on their behalf
  • Add and manage gifts
  • Share with groups and via links
  • See gift details but not claims

You control which groups see each wishlist:

  1. Open your wishlist
  2. Click ShareShare to Group
  3. Check/uncheck groups as needed
  4. Changes apply immediately

To stop a group from seeing your wishlist:

  1. Open the wishlist
  2. Click ShareShare to Group
  3. Uncheck the group
  4. Existing claims remain, but members can no longer view the list

By default, anyone with the link URL can view your wishlist. You can limit this with:

  • Expiration dates — Link stops working after a set time
  • Revocation — Manually disable a link anytime

When you revoke a share link:

  1. The link immediately stops working
  2. Anyone trying to use it sees “Access Denied”
  3. Existing claims from that link are preserved
  4. You can create a new link if needed

Event wishlists have special access rules:

  • Only visible while the event is Active
  • Participants must join the event to see wishlists
  • After the event ends, wishlists become hidden

This appears when:

  • A share link has expired or been revoked
  • You’re not a member of the required group
  • The event has ended
  • The wishlist was deleted

This is intentional! Giverr hides claim information from wishlist owners to preserve the surprise. Other givers can see claims for coordination.

Check:

  1. Is the share link still active?
  2. Are they a member of the Gift Group?
  3. Is the event still active (for event wishlists)?
  4. Is the wishlist still shared with that group?
